Who I am
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my website!
I'm Sophia. The Angelique comes from my middle name. Here I'll tell you a little bit about my background and my goals.

I am a 20-year-old homeschooled graduate born and raised in San Diego, California. I lived there for 13 years before my family and I moved to Minnesota. I remained there for nearly five years before I moved to Erie, Pennsylvania, to be with my husband, Maxim, which is where I currently reside. I've made a lot of shifts and changes in my life throughout the years, but they all served to carry their own personal and memorable experiences! I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I've been drawing my entire life but became serious about the idea of making it a career around the age of nine. At that time, I had developed the concept and early pages of a children's book, and through that journey I learned just how much I enjoyed the process of creation—and that was what I had truly been passionate about.
From the age of ten until now, I have experimented with more styles than I can count. I never really settled for any "one" style; if anything, I embraced them all. I feel that there really are no limits to art, and it's what you make of it that counts. For a while I struggled with the idea that in order to succeed as an artist, I had to find that one style that defined me. But ultimately, I found joy in each one I worked with. I realized that it was more freeing and fulfilling to not limit myself to one way of creating art, and there was something for everybody, including myself, to enjoy—hence, "The Girl With Many Styles."
Currently, my goal as an artist is to combine a sense of realism with fantasy. No matter what medium, whether it be digital, pencil, or paint, I love combining fantastical ideas with the real world in different ways.

I've recently started getting into painting professionally. There's a feeling like no other when I sit down and pick up a paint brush. My dad referred to this feeling as "the blue zone"—where one enters their own state of mind separate from reality, submerged in their own world of passion and creativity.
I have a lot to learn and a lot to experience, but that's all a part of the journey. I'm so excited to expand on my knowledge of art, painting, and create more artwork that speaks to both myself and others.

Writing is also something I would like to integrate into my illustrations. I'm currently developing a fantasy series with some good friends, and I'm so excited to soon share it with you.
Growing up, I've had many inspirations that have driven me to pursue what I love to do. However, the most impactful sources are definitely my mom and my brothers. They have always believed in me and my aspirations and have done their best to work alongside me in order to make my dreams a reality. As a single mother, my mom has always had a strong, determined spirit and has wanted nothing but the best for me and my siblings. She and my brothers have always kept my future in their hearts. I am very grateful that despite the hardships we have gone through, I have a family so loving and supportive.

Another inspiration of mine that has always had a large part in fueling my determination is my father, who passed away when I was nine years old. He was a professional acoustic guitarist who composed and arranged his own music. He never stopped encouraging my love of art as a child, and making him proud by continuing to follow in his footsteps in creating art just as he did will always be a motivation of mine.

I continuously thank him for being an example of what it means to follow your passion.

Some of my favorite fellow artists are Hajime Isayama, Envie P1, and Leonardo Da Vinci.
My Interests
Other than drawing and writing, I love performing arts. Growing up I always performed in talent shows, was enrolled in an acting class for a period of time, and loved performing in plays. It's a hobby that I love to participate in when the opportunity arises.
With that, a love for fashion strongly developed over the years. From an alternative style, a colorful hippie look, to a soft cottage-core vibe, I find beauty in different areas of fashion and-similarly to my art-I can never choose just one!

I love all animals, and they are one of the major focal points of my art. I love to capture the beauty and individual personalities in each one. My Renaissance Pets series strongly portrays that!

I also love anime! Growing up, from the ages of four to seven, I have core memories of sitting in front of the TV as my brother watched Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. Little did I know, those moments would soon lead to a deep passion for Japanese animation! Attack on Titan and the Dragon Ball series specifically hold a special place in my heart-but I could go on and on!
I also love cooking, baking, and video games. When I find the time, I love streaming video games on Twitch as a hobby. Entertaining and interacting with others while also doing something I love is very fulfilling!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you'll stick with me on this journey. It makes me so happy to be able to share my story and art with the world. I look forward to continuing to share my progress on my website.
